Wild Bird Seeds
Seeds are the staple food of wild birds, and attracting birds of the type desired requires using the bird seeds that are most attractive to them. Black oil sunflower seed is universally attractive to most birds, with the exception being finches and nectar eating birds. Sunflower seed is also very attractive to chipmunks and squirrels due to the seed having a higher fat content which the animals enjoy especially going into fall and winter. Thistle seed is enjoyed by many birds, but it is especially attractive to finches and is a necessity for finch feeders.
