Soft Corals for Saltwater Aquariums
Soft corals are those which do not produce a calcium carbonate based skeleton. Popular soft corals include zoanthids and mushroom corals, both of which can tolerate a wide variety of lighting conditions, as well as reproduce and spread out in a home saltwater aquarium. Those who keep soft corals will benefit by also using carbon, or something similar in their filter system. Often when a beginner wants to start out with corals in a marine aquarium, soft corals are the place to start.
