Aquarium Filter Media

Filter media is the material loaded into aquarium filters. Regardless of the manufacturer, a filter has some variation of these materials inside of it. Biological, chemical, and mechanical filtration are the three types of filtration an aquarium filter performs to keep fish, invertebrates, and corals alive. Every manufacturer uses a slightly different version of this material for their filter, so it is important to carefully choose media for the correct filter model and style that is on the aquarium. One size does not fit all with regards to most filter media.
