This automatic back-up system will help keep your fish alive. It plugs in so it can detect when the power goes off. That is when the bubbles go on to save your fish, even if you're not at home. Requires 2 D batteries, not included.

Great peace of mind

Pros:
Good for areas with frequent blackouts, and transport.
Cons:
Noisy.
Great peace of mind for everyday and especially for areas with frequent blackouts. Have used this for transporting new fish long distances and for holding tanks while cleaning my pond. Only drawback is that it is very loud.

just in case

Pros:
works
Cons:
not silent and not as powerful as i would like
should defiantly have one in case of a power outage but i would suggest buying a corner filter and in a long term power outage (4+ hours) move your biological media to the corner filter to prevent a ammonia/nitrite/nitrate spike. hopefully you dont have a bio wheel :/

Piece of Mind

Pros:
Long-Lasting
Cons:
Loud
I have one of these units and it saved my fishes' life during a recent week long power outage. It's loud, but it beats having your fish suffocate. A fresh set of D cells will last at least a week before dying. It'll automatically sense a loss of power and turn itself on. It also has a clip for use when transporting fish. The included airline will almost certainly be too short for most applications, so buy extra. A must-have for every fishkeeper.

Reliable for Power Outage

Pros:
Good Value, Reliable, Peace of mind, Easy to Use
Cons:
LOUD, Short airline
This product has a power cord that plugs into an existing outlet. If the power to that outlet fails, the pump will turn on, providing air to the aquarium. This is great for power outages. It also works good for transporting livestock during a move. The airline is quite short, and didn't reach from the stand up to the top of my tank, so I had to use a spare airline. The airstone is big and bulky, but can also be replaced to make it hidden. I use this all the time in my 20 gallon reef tank in case of unexpected power outage. When the pump is on it is quite loud, but I believe it is worth the peace of mind.
