Yellow Polyp
Yellow Polyp, Parazoanthus axinella, adds a beautiful golden glow to the reef aquarium with its colorful, undulating tentacles. They are also known as Encrusting Polyps, as it ships with a number of the eight-tentacled "blooms" attached to Live Rock. Yellow Polyps require medium to high water flow and lighting. Placement should be in the middle to high regions of the aquarium. The color of these polyps will be brought out with more intense light, so they may be a darker or brighter shade of yellow depending on time of year collected and region. Because the polyp tentacles are often stung by nearby corals, specimens should be kept an adequate distance from other corals. Although micro-plankton and brine shrimp will supplement the diet of the Polyp Corals, naturally-occuring zooxanthellae and microalgae will provide much of its diet. This species is a great choice for aquarists of all experience levels.
