Like all Pipefish, the Yellow Multi-Bar prefers aquariums with lots of branching corals, gorgonias or macroalgae and low current. As a predator it will prefer live brine Shrimp or small feeder fish. Because of its slow motions and required diet, it usually does best in aquariums set up for just Pipefish and/or Seahorses. It may find enough food to eat in a mature mini-reef aquarium if there are not other Gobies, Blennies and Mandarins to compete with for available food.
