Wild Gold Compressiceps Cichlid

The Wild Gold Compressiceps Cichlid, Altolamprologus compressiceps 'gold' , is endemic to the African rift lake Tanganyika. Like other freshwater fish from the rift lakes, aquarium water should be buffered to a specific pH level. For Tanganyikan Cichlids this range is 7.4 to 9.4 and several products are available to handle this requirement. A. compressiceps has a carnivorous diet made of small fish and crustaceans. When a mated pair is ready for breeding a cave should be provided that only the female can enter. Females are the smallest of the pair and are substrate brooders.
