White Tail Trigger
White Tail Trigger, Sufflamen albicaudatus, is native to the Indian and Red Seas. It is also referred to as a Blue Throat Triggerfish. First described by Ruppell in 1829, it is a member of the family Balistidae. There is no easily visible way to tell males from females in the genus Sufflamen. Triggerfish are hardy fish, so they would be a good choice for someone who is a beginning aquarist. Triggers of the genus Sufflamen are known to be moderately aggressive and should be kept with tankmates who are able to fend for themselves. These Triggers can be kept with other members of their own species if they are in a large enough tank. For best results when grouping add multiple juveniles at the same time. Keep in mind that they can grow to be 12 inches. This fish is a carnivore, and should be fed accordingly. A variety of meat-based preparations as well as some squid and krill soaked in a vitamin supplement will keep this fish well nourished and happy.
