White Sand Star
White Sand Star, Archaster typicus, is found on several of the reefs in the Indo-Pacific region. More appropriately known as a sea star, this Echinoderm is an industrious member of any reef aquarium. The Stars move through the sand bed in search of uneaten food and microbial life to make a meal of. This behavior helps to keep the sand bed stirred and free of anaerobic regions that could pose a threat to the aquarium. As with other Starfish, the White Sand Star will not tolerate copper (especially copper-based medications) or higher nitrate levels.
