This fish lives up to its name with its 24+ inch adult size. While a smaller aquarium can house this fish when it is small, a much larger tank is necessary if the fish is to be kept for its entire natural lifespan. This fish can live a very long life with some reports of 20 year old fish being recorded. When keeping large fish of this sort, regular water changes and heavy filtration are absolutely necessary as they produce quite a bit of waste.
