One of the larger Barbs, this fish can grow to about 12 inches in length. The body is covered with a very defined silver scaling and the fins are red with a black stripe along the fringe of the tail fin and dorsal fin. The colors will usually intensify as the fish grows. While the Tin Foil Barb is rather peaceful and likes to school, it may eat smaller fish. They will require a lot of open space to swim, and will generally eat most live plants. Voracious eaters, the Tin Foil Barb will eat almost all aquarium foods and is a rather fast growing fish and is almost always active.
