Synodontis Multipunctatus

Scientific Name: Synodontis multipunctatus
Recommended Aquarium: 75+ Gallons
Approx. Adult Size: 10 inches
Temperament: Peaceful
Ease of Care: Easy
Diet: Omnivore
Native Waters: Africa Lake Tanganyika

The Synodontis multipunctatus is quite a beautiful scavenger that is a true prize. Foods intended for bottom dwellers such as sinking pellets are nearly a necessity. To help provide a varied diet, Bloodworms and Tubifex worms make a great treat. This Catfish is usually found singly as adults, hiding during the day. Multiple smaller specimens introduced simultaneously typically do fine. It can make a good scavenger for an African Cichlid aquarium, though it may not tolerate other Synodontis cats. It will mostly be active at night or when food is added to the aquarium. It needs to be treated as a smooth skin catfish when treating for parasite infestations. As typically behavior for many of the Synodontis genus, it is not unusual to find this fish hovering upside-down inside of a cave or under a piece of driftwood.
