Stripe Knee Tarantula
Stripe Knee Tarantulas, (Aphonopelma seemanni), are hardy, active, and make great pets for the beginner or expert. They are terrestrial spiders native to the tropical forests of Costa Rica, Nicaragua, El Salvador, and Honduras. All Tarantulas are venomous to a certain extent and some can flick irritating hairs. Some people may be more sensitive or allergic to these substances, making it dangerous to care for Tarantulas without using proper precautions. Gloves and eye protection should be worn when cleaning cages and tarantulas should not be handled. It is important to note that tarantulas shed while laying on their backs, and during that time they are vulnerable to being chewed on by crickets. When a tarantula is on its back molting, it is very important to remove all feeder insects from the habitat.
