Spotted Cardinalfish
Spotted Cardinalfish, Sphaeramia orbicularis , is a great variety of Cardinal that is quite a unique find. Having the same incredible hardiness and peaceful mannerisms of its close cousin, the Pajama Cardinal, it is a great fish for aquarists of all experience levels. Also known as the Polka Dot Cardinal, multiple specimens kept in the same aquarium are best introduced simultaneously to prevent established fish from picking on newcomers. As with other members of the Cardinal family, a pecking order will be established based on size, but the bullying that happens is typically harmless. With its maximum size of around three inches, it is a great size for smaller aquariums. This extremely durable fish makes a great “cycling” fish for new aquariums that is attractive enough to be kept beyond the initial aquarium phase. It will accept a variety of foods including Brine Shrimp and bloodworms, and will typically accept flake food fairly easily.
