Sohal Tang
Because of its metabolism, the Acanthurus sohal or Sohal Tang is a challenge to keep. Being an energetic swimmer, this fish must be fed a primarily-herbivorous diet multiple times daily. This Red Sea beauty is among the most assertive of all Tangs. If the Sohal Tang is to be added to an aquarium with other Tangs, it should be added simultaneously or as the last Tang added. Its should be added at a size smaller than all other Tangs. As a very active swimmer, it requires a great deal of swimming space, plus a few rock caves for security. It prefers a vegetable-based diet of frozen foods, seaweed sheets, and spirulina. It is best to supplement with a vitamin solution such as Selcon to help prevent Head and Lateral Line Erosion, common to Tangs. Like all Tangs, it should be quarantined before adding to a display aquarium.
