Skunk Botia
Skunk Botia, Botia morleti, is an attractive, active scavenger whose personality helps with its popularity. Also known as the Cream Loach or Mouse Loach, this is a great fish to group – either with its own species or with other similar Loaches such as the
Clown Loach. Active during the day and night, this torpedo-shaped fish has a light-colored body with a dark stripe running along the dorsal region. Some tiger-like, vertical striping is also often present on the body. It does best in well-aerated water with good water flow. A number of decorations including driftwood will help it feel at home. While active, these fish are comical to watch as they chase and play with one another. When it comes time to rest, they are often seen hanging upside down under some décor or vertically between the glass and plants. This is typically not a sign of distress. This avid-eating omnivore will take any food designed for carnivores or omnivores. Special attention should be paid to ensure that ample food is falling to the aquarium floor to keep this active fish sated. A varied diet of Bloodworms, Tubifex Worms, and sinking pellet foods will help it retain best health.
