This good looking fish might be described as a “tank buster” due to the size it can potentially reach. This Distichodus’ size in captivity will be approximately 12 inches in length, but the fish has the potential to grow to as long as 24 inches if the aquarium is large enough. Unless the aquarium is over 300 gallons, it is recommended that only one of these fish be kept. This fish is a true omnivore, in that it will eat almost all live aquarium plants, but will also eat meatier foods such as worms and aquatic carnivore food.
Approximate arrival size for Six Banded Distichodus: 2 to 4 inches
