Silver Hatchetfish
Silver Hatchetfish, Thoracocharax Stellatus, are a very interesting species of fish that come to us from the Amazon Region. These bright silver, intricately shaped fish are very good jumpers, so any aquarium should be tightly covered. They are surface fish, making it important to ensure that the aquarium gets floating foods. These fish should be watched closely when first brought home for the onset of common aquarium diseases. With a length of up to 2 inches and a coloration that will catch an eye from across the room, these fish are a welcome addition to nearly any home aquarium. Soft, slightly acidic water is a necessity for the survival of this fish.
