Scribbled Pseudotropheus
To help give an aquarium the appearance of two different species while adding only one, the Scribbled Pseudotropheus is a good choice. Also known as the Msobo Cichlid, the Pseudotropheus sp. “msobo” is one of the smaller Mbuna from Lake Malawi, and somewhat peaceful. Juveniles and females are a nice yellow coloration. The male will first develop a blue face, then the body will turn a brilliant blue with black blotches, This very striking fish is best kept in harem fashion: one male with several females. It is also best to avoid aquarium mates that may resemble Mbuna. Large rock formations are a must. Frequent partial water changes and excellent water flow are encouraged to help keep the water quality pristine. Females are mouthbrooders, carrying the eggs for 14-21 days. The Scribbled Pseudo’s diet consists of mostly vegetable material, with an occasional meaty treat. This fish is also known in the literature as Metriaclima sp Msobo.
