Scopas Tang
The Scopas Tang or Brown Tang is the Zebrasoma scopas found in the South Pacific. With a yellow base with purple/blue markings and tail, it is one of the more aggressive Tangs, and as such should be kept with other Tangs. In the wild it obtains 8 inches in length and should be housed in at least a 75 gallon aquarium. When fed a diet of vegetable based prepared foods and fresh zucchini, broccoli and spinach, it is a "reef safe" fish. If its diet is lacking, it may bother soft corals and stony corals. It is reported to eat filamentous algae and will constantly graze in the aquarium. Like most Tangs, it is somewhat prone to Head and Lateral Line Erosion if not properly fed. It is a good idea to quarantine this Tang and also supplement with vitamin products such as Selcon.
