Sand Bed Stirring Team

The proper maintenance of a Reef Sand Bed is important to prevent problems. Without sand shifting critters, the bed may become compacted and possibly anaerobic, leading to production of toxic chemicals. The starfish and snails of the Sand Bed Stirring Team will constantly shift through the sand, looking for algae and other detritus to consume. This shifting will prevent dead zones from arising and limit the build up of organic wastes in the sand bed, preventing algae blooms. The Cortez Cerith Snails will be particularly entertaining with their unusual shell design, and the Red Banded Snails' colorful striping will make them easy to spot as they graze around the aquarium. The starfish will get into the smallest areas and maintain your sand bed even between the larger rocks of the reef.
