Sailfin Tang

One of the hardier Tangs, Zebrasoma veliferum or the Sailfin Tang is also one of the largest, growing to 16 inches in length. Coming from the Central and South Pacific, this Tang is also one of the least aggressive and will tolerate other species of Tangs in the same aquarium. Plan on at least a 75 gallon and provide it with open swimming areas and rock caves for hiding. When fed properly with vegetable based prepared foods and fresh zucchini, broccoli and spinach, it is considered a "reef safe" fish. Prone to Head and Lateral Line Erosion, you should add vitamin supplements to the food and water such as Selcon. Reported to eat filamentous algae which can be very helpful in your aquarium.
