Saddle Anemone

Saddle Anemone, Stichodactyla haddoni, is traditional easier to care for than the Carpet Anemone, but is still one of the more difficult anemones to acclimate to the home aquarium. This anemone will tend to roam initially until it finds a comfortable spot, and then will likely stay in that general vicinity. While finding its "spot", it may damage any corals with which it comes in contact along the way. This not-for-the-beginner-aquarist anemone can cause a painful sting to humans and, as such, must be handled with care. The Saddle Anemone is a natural host for some Clownfish species, including the Ocellaris and Percula Clowns. Providing the Saddle Anemone with a high level of lighting, excellent water conditions, and a medium water flow is a good way to help ensure its health. Target feedings of fish, krill, or mussels are readily accepted. The addition of Iodine is a necessity for continued health

This invertebrate requires special care and is traditionally difficult to keep. It is, therefore, recommended only for the advanced aquarist or for aquatic research facilities. Saddle Anemones are exempt from the PETSOLUTIONS 7-Day Security Blanket.

Saddle Anemone is a common host for the following Clownfish species: Ocellaris, Percula.
