Rock Wrasse
Rock Wrasse, Thalassoma amblycephalum, is a hardy, Mexican Wrasse whose active personality and magnificent coloration make it popular for a fish only aquarium. Adapting to aquarium life quite readily when offered a wide variety of meaty foods such as Brine Shrimp, this fish is notable by its blue and green coloration. Intermittently, some black or yellow striping or some blue or yellow spots may be seen. In the wild, it reaches mature sizes of up to nine inches and around six inches in the home aquarium. It is generally not recommended for a reef aquarium and it may bother (or eat) some invertebrates or extremely small fish. A sand bed and Live Rock should be provided for all Wrasses. They will bury themselves in the sand to sleep or hide. Live Rock provides numerous small life forms that the Wrasses consider a tasty treat as well as another place to hide when they feel threatened.
