Redback Butterflyfish
The Redback Butterfly (Chaedodon paucifasciatus)is found in the wild in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. Its natural diet in the wild includes small crustaceans, coral polyps, algae, and worms. In the home aquarium a diet including both meaty and vegetable based materials should be used, such as Mysis and brine shrimp and products such as Formula 2 and Seaweed Salad. Due to the predatory nature of this fish toward crustaceans and corals it is not safe for a reef aquarium. This fish is excellent for a fish only community tank, and has an adult size of approximately five inches.
