Red Hawkfish
Red Hawkfish, Cyprinocirrhites polyactis, is a fish that does well in slow-moving water where it can roost and casually move from rock-to-rock or in stronger currents where it will swim in a hovering fashion into the current. Also known as the Lyretail Hawk, this fish has also been known to seek refuge beneath the tentacles of large anemones and some longer-tentacled Large Polyp Stony Corals. It is an attractive fish that is typically red with mottled shades of lighter and darker red. As some individuals may be somewhat aggressive to smaller and more timid Gobies and Fairy Wrasses, it is best introduced simultaneously or following the calmer introductees. The Red Hawk readily adapts to a diet of frozen or live shrimp such as Mysid or Brine, but does require frequent feeding to ensure best health.
