Red Fairy Anthias
The Red Fairy Anthias (Pseudanthias kashiwae) is also sometimes referred to as the Silver-Streak Goldie or the Red Fairy Basslet. This is a deep water fish that is considered reef friendly, but only when given plenty of rockwork to hide in. Since it is a deepwater fish, it is tolerant of the lighting used in a reef tank but generally prefers lower light or lurking in shadows so it may be more active in the evening when some of the tank lights are off. In the wild this fish occurs in such areas as the Maldives, Southern Japan and Papua New Guinea. This fish will have an adult size of up to 6 inches, and is a carnivore so should be given meaty frozen and dry foods.
Approximate arrival size: 2.5 to 3.5 inches
