A hardy and peaceful fish that does grow somewhat larger than other members of its family. Growing to three inches in the wild (though rarely exceeding two in the home aquarium), it may be kept with other species not normally considered "Tetra compatible." Its gray scales reflect a nice silver sheen as it swims and plays in currents. The dark black spot at the base of the tail fin and its bright red eye help give the Red Eye Tetra its unique appearance.
