The bubbles on this fish begin to form when they are approximately 6 to 9 months old and it takes a couple of years for the bubbles to completely form. These bubbles are able to burst, and when they do most of the time they will grow back just fine. Due to the delicate nature of these bubbles, this fish is not recommended for beginners. This fish should not be kept in a community aquarium filled with a variety of fish, due to its slow swimming and delicate nature it will not be able to eat properly. The ideal situation would be to just keep several of these fish together, or with Celestial eye goldfish.
