Rectangulus Trigger
Rectangulus Trigger, Rhinecanthus rectangulus, commonly comes from the Red Sea, Indian and Pacific Oceans. It is also known as the Wedgetail Triggerfish. This fish is a member of the family Balistidae and was named by Bloch and Schneider, 1801. There are no distinguishing differences between males and females. Triggerfish are extremely hardy fish, therefore they are great for those who are just starting in the hobby. Members of the genus Rhinecanthus are not quite as aggressive as other triggers are, making them a great addition in a medium to large fish only aquarium. Multiple specimens may be kept together with caution, but keep in mind that they are capable of growing to be 12 inches. Triggers are not the type of fish one would add to a reef tank, due to their eating habits. Rectangulus Triggers should be offered a variety of carnivore preparations as well as pieces of squid and krill, soaked in a vitamin supplement. Carpet anemones are generally safe from being picked on by this trigger.
