Pocillopora Coral
Pocillopora, Pocillopora sp. , has multiple, concave spores covering its calcified frame. Because of its appearance, it is also known as Bowl, Cauliflower, Cluster, or Lacey Coral. It is typically available in brown, green, or pink variations. Pocillopora requires perfect conditions including high lighting levels and high water flow. With proper water conditions, which include carefully monitored calcium levels and the addition of strontium, Pocillopora can do fine in the home aquarium. As with some other Polyped Corals, its sweeper tentacles will reach out at night and may damage other corals placed too closely. Pocillopora will benefit from feedings of any supplement designed for filter feeders. Iodine and strontium will help ensure its continued health.
