This fish is named partly after Dr. Hugh McCormick Smith, an American ichthyologist who lived from 1865 to 1941. The Pink Smith Damsel also gets its name partly from the pink highlights which can be seen around the edges of the fish. This damsel is often found in groups when encountered in the wild, and in captivity it will do well with a variety of prepared and frozen foods.
