Peppermint Plecostomus (L-030 / L-031)
Originally found in South America, the Parancistrus sp. known as the Peppermint Pleco is now mostly a farm raised specimen. Listed as L-030 in the Loricariidae list, the Peppermint Pleco can reach a total length of 6 inches. The body is dark black with white to bluish polka dots over the body and fins. As an herbivore, the diet should be supplemented with algae discs and zucchini spears. The armored scaling will protect the Pleco from most fish but you should avoid keeping them with really large Cichlids. The Peppermint Pleco is a good all around scavenger and will not bother other fish, with a possible exception of some other Plecostomus species.
Approximate arrival size for Peppermint Plecostomus: 2-3".
