The Peacock Flasher Wrasse was the first wrasse in the genus Cirrhilabrus which was originally created in 1850. This fish originally had a different spelling of its name, but it was altered in the 1950’s. The care for this beautiful fish is similar to any other wrasse. A sand bed and Live Rock should be provided for all Wrasses. They will bury themselves in the sand to sleep or hide. Live Rock provides numerous small life forms that the Wrasses consider a tasty treat as well as another place to hide when they feel threatened. The diet for this fish will consist primarily of what it can graze for itself, as well as meaty frozen food such as brine shrimp, zooplankton, and Mysis shrimp. It is recommended that this fish be kept in harems, with 3 females to each male. It is not recommended to keep more than one male in an aquarium.
