Parkinsoni Rainbow
Parkinsoni Rainbow, Melanotaenia parkinsoni, is one of the most uniquely colored Rainbowfish and is a brilliant aquarium addition. Identified in the latter part of the 20th century, this fish is noteworthy for its luminous silvery body that reflects sheens of blue, green, orange, red, and yellow. Running laterally along its body is a single deep blue broad band. Thinner orange strips run parallel to this line outward from the broad band. The upper, lower, and tail fins reflect a bright orange-red. Added in a grouping, this fish is a true aquarium showpiece. Hardy and peaceful, this eager eater will accept dried, frozen, and live foods. It prefers a bit of salt added to the water and prefers cooler temperatures than many tropical fish - something around 70 degrees should be fine. This personable, flashy fish grows to a maximum size of a little over 4 inches, so it requires a good deal of swimming space.
Approximate arrival size for Parkinsoni Rainbow: 2.5 to 3.5 in.
