Orange/Green Zoanthid
Scientific Name: Zoanthida sp.
Recommended Aquarium: 30+ Gallons
Light Requirement: Moderate-High
Water Flow: Strong
Ease of Care: Moderate
The Zoanthids are a true colonial organism, able to share nutrients and nerve impulses across their membraneous mat or stolon bases. Most have endosymbionic zooxanthellae and will benefit from moderate to high lighting, though you should slowly adapt them to higher intensities when placed in a new aquarium. While they can show a wide variety of colors and patterns, this specimen has primarily orange and green colors. As with most corals, the Zoanthid should be drip acclimated over a period of 2-3 hours. The Orange Green Zoanthid will eat small crustaceans that pass over the polyps and are trapped by the stinging tentacles. They will “get along” with most other sessile reef inhabitants, but will slowly spread.
Approximate arrival size for Orange/Green Zoanthid: Tiny 1-3 polyps, Small 2 to 3 inches, Medium 3 to 5 inches, Large 5 to 7 inches
