Orange Striped Wrasse
Orange Striped Wrasse, Halichoeres cosmetus, is an eager eater who is also hardy and peaceful, with the occassional exception of members of its own genus. Also known as the Adorned Wrasse, this carnivore adapts to aquarium life when offered a wide variety of meaty foods such as Brine Shrimp. Members of the Halichoeres species generally reach a mature size of approximately 5 inches in the wild and 4 inches in captivity. It is generally recommended for a reef aquarium due to its preference for some foods that are created in an aquatic environment with Live Rock. It must be considered reef safe “with caution” because it may eat small snails and urchins. They will bury often themselves in the sand to sleep or hide. The Orange Striped Wrasse is great fish with great personality at a great price.
