Growing to 4 to 5 inches in length, this pleco has a dark brown body with multiple small gold spots on the body and the fins. It also has a wide orange/gold fringe to the dorsal and tail fins, looking like a seam painted along the edges of the fins. The head is rather sharply angled downward from the eyes to the snout and the dorsal fin and tail fin are angled, giving the fish a streamlined appearance.
