The Odessa Barb is an uncommon and interesting addition to any home aquarium that will provide both movement and color when added in a school. The male Odessa is primarily black and silver but has a bright red streak down the side, and the female tends to be pink and silver with just a touch of black on it. It is best to keep more females than males in an aquarium to reduce aggression between males. Plenty of hiding places should be provided for this fish, and it would be particularly happy if housed in an aquarium set up for live plants. The Odessa Barb is easy to feed and care for, as it is an omnivore and will accept most flake and frozen foods.
