Neon Rosy Barb
Neon Rosy Barb, Puntius conchonius, is one of the more peaceful Barbs. It is as equally active and hardy as the other family members. Indigenous to the country of India, this fish is brilliant in color with its red sheen and the tips of its fins shimmering as it navigates back and forth in the aquarium. Males being slightly brighter than females, this occasional fin-nipper has a great appetite and is open for variety in its diet. When consistently fed live foods and during spawning time, the male Neon Rosy Barbs will radiate a gorgeous red-purple. Typically seen at a maximum size around three inches, it will swim in the open spaces in schools and singly along the bottom as it grazes for morsels of uneaten food.
