The Platy, a livebearing species, possesses traits that are very well suited for the aquarists of all experience levels because of its hardiness and peacefulness. The Platy can be found in many sheer, bright colors and will retain its small body size. When male and female are coupled, the Platy can and will produce broods of young on an average of once a month. This time can be shorter or longer, depending mainly upon temperature. These fish are best kept in trios.
