This fish is a carnivore and as such it will require a regular diet of live food. Very small guppies are often the starter food for this fish and eventually as the fish grows larger fish can be used as a food source. The Need Nose Gar is a very thin fish, thinner than a pencil when small and will not be very thick even when full grown. One very noticeable thing about this fish is its mouth full of razor sharp teeth, which it uses in catching food.
