Multi-Barred Angel
Multi-Barred Angel, Paracentropyge multifasciatus, is one of the more challenging Dwarf Angels to keep, but the reward outweighs the challenge for many who enjoy its absolute beauty. Often found living within the safety of Live Rock and reefs from the middle Indo-Pacific down through the Great Barrier Reef, the Multi-Barred Angel is unique with its neatly-arranged black, white, and yellow striping. Members of the genus Centropyge are referred to as Dwarf Angels because of their small size, generally three to six inches in length. Dwarf Angels are generally very peaceful fish with the exception of members of their own species and possibly another genus, if they look enough alike. If multiple Dwarf Angels are to be added to the same aquarium, it is best to introduce them simultaneously and at the same size. An aquarium of at least 75 gallons is highly recommended, if housing more than one Centropyge genus family members. Reef safe "with caution", Dwarf Angels may cause damage to Stony Corals as they may nip when grazing for algae. Provide Dwarf Angels with a balanced diet containing algae and sponge, which are readily available as prepared or frozen foods. Another addition to the aquarium that will benefit Dwarf Angels is Live Lock. Living organisms on the rock provide a great source of food and the rock itself provides hiding places.
Approximate Arrival Size for Multi-Barred Angel: 1 to 3 in.
