Merulina Coral
Merulina, Merulina sp., is found in a variety of colors including blue, brown, gray, green, pink, and tan. It is a coral that requires high lighting levels and moderate to high water flow. A hermatypic (reef-building) coral, it forms large structures in the wild. Depending on the individual aquarium characteristics (lighting, water flow), it may do fine at any level of the aquarium. With proper water conditions, which include carefully monitored calcium levels and the addition of strontium, Merulina can do fine in the home aquarium. As with some other Polyped Corals, it sweeper tentacles will reach out at night and may damage other corals placed too closely.
