Male Jade Head Guppy
The male version of this guppy is small in size and displays a fancy tail fin. The guppy was bred as a show fish, but before being bred in captivity they originated in Guyana, Venezuela, and Barbados. These Livebearers are easy keepers for the beginning aquarist because they are hardy, peaceful, community safe fish. They are same species compatible. However, you do need to watch inter-species mixing. Do not mix them with “fin nippers”. The ideal living conditions for the Multi-Color Guppy is a ten gallon tank with a temperature range of 75 - 85º F. As an Omnivore, it requires both algae-based (flake) & meaty foods (freeze-dried bloodworms, tubifex, & brine shrimp). Due to the fact that you can feed such a variety and guppies are “little beggars” it is easy to overfeed the adult guppy. Some tips to help you not overfeed: 1.) Feed only what can be eaten in 5 minutes. 2.) Cloudy water is a sign of overfeeding.
