The Longspine Cardinal, also known as the Threadfin Cardinalfish is a great addition to an aquarium when the hobbyist is looking for a very good schooling fish. Often an aquarium is filled with many individual types of fish and that “something different” is sought after. A school of these fish looks amazing in any reef tank or fish only tank, and the fact that this fish gets along very well with other fish and invertebrates certainly helps as well. In the wild this fish is found in huge schools of hundreds or thousands of fish. It will do best in a school of at least three but preferably at least five when kept in captivity. This fish is easy to care for, will eat most commercially prepared frozen and dry marine fish foods, and handles adapting to aquarium life very well.
