The Longsnout Butterfly is typically found in deep ocean areas in reef environments which provide the fish with a source of food in the form of small invertebrates. Some information on this fish points to the possibility of it eating the feet of urchins and the tentacles of tubeworms, so it is generally not thought of as a reef safe fish. The Longsnout butterfly is a resilient fish which is capable of adjusting to a wide variety of foods and habitats, but as with any fish it is important to provide as many types of food as possible.
