Kluzinger's Wrasse

Kluzinger’s Wrasse, Thalassoma klunzingeri, is an outstandingly beautiful Red Sea native. This hardy carnivore adapts to aquarium life when offered a wide variety of meaty foods such as Brine Shrimp. Its coloration is its most noteable feature. The marine blue-green body is adorned with green and red facial striations with red strips running down along the dorsal region. In the wild, it reaches mature sizes of up to 8 inches. It is generally not recommended for a reef aquarium and it may bother (or eat) some invertebrates or extremely small fish. A sand bed and Live Rock should be provided for all Wrasses. They will bury themselves in the sand to sleep or hide. Live Rock provides numerous small life forms that the Wrasses consider a tasty treat as well as another place to hide when they feel threatened.

Approximate Arrival Size for Kluzinger’s Wrasse: 3 to 6 in.
