Transcriptus Cichlid, Julidochromis transcriptus, is endemic to the African rift lake Tanganyika. Also known as the Kissi Julie Cichlid, the aquarium water should be buffered to a specific pH level. For Tanganyikan Cichlids this range is 7.4 to 9.4 and several products are available to handle this requirement. The breeding stock of this fish hails from the Gombe region. J. transcriptus has a carnivorous diet primarily made of small invertebrates.
