Like other freshwater fish from the rift lakes, aquarium water should be buffered to a specific pH level. For Tanganyikan Cichlids this range is 7.4 to 9.4 and several products are available to handle this requirement. T. moorii has a herbivorous diet. When spawning, females carry the young in their mouth. All captive raised cichlids offered by Pet Solutions are first generation offspring (F1) from wild caught stock.
